Taking the train from Bangalore to Ernakulam is a nice break from the rush to fly between the cities. Overall, the travel time is a bit longer by train but much more relaxing and the food was okay. The cabins were great! The beds super (Surprisingly) comfortable and then when the beds were put away. Very good experience.
The flight was a small one with respect to other domestic Jet Airways flights. It was a one hour journey. The flight left on time in the morning and complimentary breakfast and drinks were provided. The seats were comfortable and good hospitality was shown by the air hostesses. Post landing, we received our luggage on quick time and boarded our cab to the destination.
The journey is the best thing and a wonderful experience of Munnar. Far away from the city is only a beautiful view of tea estates. With a lot of hairpin curves just adds excitement to journey. Not only going to Munnar, the return is also a great experience. Plan a return via the Tamil Nadu forest are, you maybe lucky to a spot a wild.
It was a horrible experience travelling to Munnar using KPN Travels. Firstly the bus doesn't go to Munnar directly which is no where mentioned in the ticket, suddenly the driver of the bus and KPN staff at Udumalaipettai said that it is the last stop and asked everyone to get down and change to van.
The reporting time at Bangalore Maidwala was 9:45, but the actual bus time is 10:45 (They say that the bus starts at 10:10 in Kalasipalayam), we had to wait for an hour in the KPN boarding point, full of mosquito and the place itself stinking badly. The toilet was on the side, you need walk along a ditch to get to the toilet and also so many cockroaches and insects on the way and there was no water in the toilet too. What a boarding horrible point.
The bus from Bangalore reached Udumalaipettai at 6:30 Am but the van was waiting for another K. P. N bus that comes from Chennai which was delayed by 2:30 hours, the van started from Udumalaipettai only at 9 Am, the staff in Udumalaipettai is saying that this is happening for more than 10 years now but management doesn't care about it.
Also they won't even mind opening the side luggage storage of the bus and asking everyone to keep the luggage in the pathway and in the berth which is really really bad.
