Good road and can reach Trichy in less than 7 hours (Including food breaks). Ideal for a long drive and don't miss to visit Tanjavur (Additional 1 hour drive). You can also visit 'Kollimalai' or Koli hills on way to Trichy (you have to take diversion near Namakkal). There is a waterfall. Best to visit after Monsoon.
My travel in Jet Airways to Tiruchirappalli from Chennai was very comfortable and hassle-free. The Check in at Chennai and announcements at the Airport were quite clear. The in-flight service was very good as also the meals served. At the arriving airport also Staff of Jet Airlines were at hand to help. Great Airlines and a reliable one!
I had gone by own car and I was driving the entire trip. From Bangalore to Namakkal we have a good highway ,this stretch we can reach within five hours time. From Namakkal to Trichy the road is only two line and road condition is bad in some places.
