It was a worthy travel. Although personally I didn't like because of the huge crowd and hawkers buying /selling. In the beach strip which is supposed to be fun. Lord Jagannaath is considered as the supreme God of all Hindus residing in Odisha. Puri is located at the scenic shoreline of Odisha and due to its amazing weather.
Well I enjoyed my travelling journey to Puri with my Wagonr, the roads are absolutely butter smooth. No traffic one can easily travel both in day and night. I really enjoyed my drive to Puri. The views outside were also fantastic feel the fresh air throughout the journey.
As a frequent traveller I always keep the route and time in mind, so last weekend we had planned the trip to Puri Beach. The road to Puri is 65 km from Bhubaneswar and takes just 1 hour traveling at an average speed of 80 km on the wide Highways where you can easily drive even faster without worrying about traffic or hindrances.
There are two approaches to Puri, one via Bhubaneswar and another route directly by-passing Bhubaneswar if approaching on NH5 from Cuttack on the north. I started at 10:30 Am since this time there is not much traffic. We had planned to stop at Batamangala for a cup of tea. This place is just 6 km from Puri and is famous for a sweet called 'Chhena Jhili' made of cheese deep fried in syrup. There is a temple of goddess 'Mangala' opposite which is the small wayside refreshment center where this sweet is available.
We straightaway drove to the beach and stopped the car, took off our shoes and ran towards the sands. It is never too crowded and there are many boatmen offering you a ride.
We drove back to the beaches after lunch and some shopping at a handicrafts store. This time we drove a bit further towards the golden sands near the lighthouse. There are very few people there and it is the best place to take pictures on the white sands where you can see nature in its pristine beauty. There are guards at certain places and there is a big signboard warning visitors not to dirty the place or smoke or drink on the beaches or to venture too far into the sea. We took pictures on the beaches and enjoyed the cool afternoon breeze under the shade of palm trees.
We did not visit the temple of 'Lord Jagannath' as this year is the 'naba kalebara' meaning new idols are being carved and the temple is closed for the time being. We started on our return journey late in the afternoon and reached Bhubaneswar by evening, stopping at different places on the way to buy foodstuff or for a cup of tea. The return trip took slightly longer as there was traffic on the way.
Many bus, train, cabs are available to go to Puri from the capital city or the temple city Bhubaneswar. Any time. Fare 50-60 rupees in non/ac its very to cheap to travel to Puri in city bus by Odisha Govt. It's very safe for women to travel in busses here in Odisha.
It's the best experience and its like a Marine Drive. The beauty comes up as if it's alive. It's the best place ever and the roads are in excellent conditions. Good journey, overall and I love it. It an unforgettable experience and the beach is very nice with many pilgrims nearby.
