We took our car for the trip which made our local travel easy. But i would suggest to take local tour trips (esp the one by Goa tourism). South Goa trip is must. If u have time, spend the next day with North Goa trip. Also a must is a evening cruise trip in Mandovi river, Calangute Beach. And dont forget to apply good sun-screen before you hit beach - else you will get very bad sunburns and will spoil the whole fun by the time its evening!

Do take caps and sun glasses even if u are visitng goa in december and it is very hot during the day time. the konkan kanya express from mumbai is a good train to be boarded from mumbai, as it plies daily and runs in the night so the journey is not so tiresome.

There are not many convenient flights. The airport needs uplifting. If you don't have your lunch well in time in Panim itself, you might have a tough time at the airport. The toilets are no good.
