Taxi service was very bad by "himachal/walia tour and travels, Chandigarh ", never buk a taxi by this company, they are cheat and fraud. In start they assured to visit all places of Manali but when pay advance to company then taxi driver refuses to go Rohtang pass. Without rohtang visit of Manali is nothing in summer season. In the end of journey the taxi driver took us 30 mins late to railways station and we was not able to catch train then I asked the driver to drop us Ambala station, he asked 1700 rs for 45 km.
Never buk a taxi by this travel company.

The journey was awesome. 300 Km were covered in a 8 hour. Road is good if not great. You get to stop at Mandi which is a small yet important city enroute. Better to have a anti-vomit medicine if you feel mountain sickness.
The views are awesome and can do photography enroute. Advice is not to go too near to the fast flowing water rivers/streams as sudden increase of water may be very dangerous. The big tunnel enroute is awesome and gives you a feel of india developing.

My 3 friends and I planned a trip to Manali. We decided to go by car and we took my friends car. We started early morning at 6:00 from Chandigarh. We packed up the food from home itself we thought that food might not be good on the way. But it was like what we thought of. There were lots of hotels and dhabas on the way.

We took NH21 as this is the best and fastest route. 1st day we decided to stay at Kullu and there we come to know some nearby places like some temples and we planned to visit there.

And next we got off to Manali.

The road from Chandigarh to Ropar is excellent but after Kiratpur as you leave the main National Highway and turn right towards Swarghat the roads takes an ugly patchy state with rough drive and slowing down of traffic and as you go towards sundernagar and Bilaspur the road conditions are very bad and traffic snarls are there leading to very low speed and bumpy drive as there are a lot of trucks from cement companies of ACC and AMBUJA CEMENTS which have cement plants on this highway are taking clinkers from the plains and finished goods are sent back on this highway. At Mandi this is the centre point you can relax at Visco resort which are owned by a Sikh family serving pure vegetarian food of excellent quality and the family takes self interest in the upkeep of this hotel with fairly good rooms very neat and clean linen. After the cement plant at Gaggal you will feel a relief in you backbone and you can now start the enjoyable drive. At Pandoh dam the views are extremely nice specially in the rainy season you can see the water gushing down the flood gates which are open for overflow. After this you will cross a temple of Mata Devi which is supposed to be lucky if you have darshan ( Prayers ) for the road trip. After this you come to place called Out from where you enter the Kullu valley with a nice drive best views and good road. The drive is excellent and from Bhuntar which is the Kullu airport the drive gets more scenic and you can take two routes, one which is via kullu and other Kullu Bypass the latter being faster and giving a top view of the valley and the Kullu Route being next to the river bank gives a very nice views of the river plus it is a nice drive but the traffic snarls are there as you cross Kullu town, The 40 km drive is very nice and scenic. I hope you enjoy your Drive!!!!!!

This property is at very good location but a little offbeat near village Prini. It has breathtaking views of the valley and you can virtually have a 360 degree view of the valley. It has a fresh air feeling with pine smell and located in Apple orchards. The staff is very helpful and cooperative...more »
