Journey started from Chandigarh Sec 43 ISBT counter number 23. Bus was on time, was clean enough, not over crowded. Roads were good, as it was a cloudy day the travelling was blissful. The bus halted for some 15 minutes at a small Dhabha for tea on the way to Shimla. The journey was so soothing and calm that my anxiety of travelling in mountains was never around.
The road is very good. The rout is from Chandigarh to Shimla is via Dharampur and Solan. We had travelled by a hired taxi. The cab company is renowned company of Chandigarh (Jhajj's Travels). There are so many dhabas and restaurants on road side. Nothing required to be taken with you during journey by road. But keeping in view the season one should carry sufficient woolens.
Road was good in Shimla and bus was in good condition. I visited Shimla last year and we visited Shimla 2-3 times. Himachal Pradesh is very close to Chandigarh. Natural beauty is very good, toy train ride is good and over all the sightseeing places are very good.
A very good place to stay if you are travelling by car and it's at the side of the highway, on a new plaza, a new building. They have a small food place at the side of the lobby and the breakfast is not included. Comfortable room, very clean. The Mall has some discount outlets and only a pizza restaurant.
It takes four hours to travel, so not a long journey. Bus stops at a stop for eating food or for a short break for about 15 minutes. Fruit chat, food, chips etc is purchased from there. On the whole journey is good. Local government bus service is very vital in this route. Lots of buses are available.
