We started by train and we reached Kodi Road and from there we caught a bus and we reached Kodaikanal by bus. Trip was by road and cost wise it's cheaper. In Kodaikanal we booked two days package in some travel and also we booked a cab from them only for return to Madurai. Overall travel was good.
Reaching Madurai and returning on the same day or next the option is Jet. It is an short trip with small aeroplane made our kids happy. Mostly on time and first flight to reach Madurai from Chennai. It is always pleasure to reach Madurai in shortest time.
On the way to Kodai, using self driven car along with family was a quite adventurous in the severe cold conditions. The neighbouring mountains were looking like small kids, through the drive. Reaching for an overnight to sleep but where was the sleep? Everybody was so frightened and excited equally for the next day drive.
I travelled only in Govt Busses, since I don't have tickets for private buses. I reached Dindugal and then to Kodai Road. From Kodai Road I took a taxi to reach the Kodai hill station. They charged 1500 INR for taxi. Itís better to take a bus and go to top instead of a taxi.
