The sightseeing was nice and I saw some places like temple, park and boathouse and passed a lot of time. Our mind was so peaceful that I thoroughly enjoyed the travelling. But car travelling was little boring but we din't had an option so it was ok. Train and flight were better options but donít have service to this place.

The one and only train which goes to the destination is Karaikal Express. I would suggest choosing berth though the seats are not tidy. The journey was amazing. I had a really good time with my family. I would recommend having idly in Kumbakonam. The idyll is too soft and no one can forget in their life time. As usual the toilets are not at all clean. The Railway canteen foods are not in the desired standard, it is better to pack food from home.

Pondicherry is around 130 km from where I stay in Chennai. It is a great drive particularly between Aug- Feb Months when it is not very hot.

The route is along the coast and is filled with interesting places for sightseeing. First up all you will get Mayajaal - an entertainment mall including a multiplex, Dakshin Chitra - a center of culture, Crocodile Park, Mutukaadu Boating Place, Mahabalipuram - Ancient Rock Sculptures.

Suggest that one starts early in the morning and reaches Pondicherry by evening. Once you reach Pondy, it is a place to relax. A visit to the Aurobindo Ashram is a must and also the beaches in and around Pondicherry are wonderful.

Never miss this opportunity to drive through the ECR. People might warn you about it being unsafe and it is known for its rash driving. If you are a skillful driver who loves the hit the bends rather than taking the boring long straights of high way, this is the road for you. The road quality is better and environment of the road in itself amazing. you might not find much people compared to the GST road but that in itself is the plus out here. Once you pass Mahab's the traffic eases out.

I have been to Sea View Resort once with my friends and found this place to be quite accommodative and cost effective too. The property is small and give you a feel as if you are walking into a flat rather than a resort, Interior construction too suggests the same. But its neat, clean and well...more »

Chennai to Puducherry highway is one of the best in the world and with wonderful greenery along the highway. I feel while travelling in day time, one must travel by OMR Road which is a two lane road and along East Coast. But, during night time national highway should be followed.
