The distance between Trichy and Chennai is 325 km. It takes a little more than five and half hours to reach Trichy from Chennai. The route is as follows: Chennai - Tambaram - Perungalathur - Vandalur - Otteri - Guduvancheri - Kattankolathur - Maraimalai Nagar (Ford factory) - Chengalpattu - Madurantakam - Melmaruvathur - Tindivanam - Vikravandi - Villupuram - Ulundurpettai - Asanur - Veppur - Perambalur - Srirangam - Tirichy. The road at Villupuram is not well maintained and there is a railway cross at Ulundurpettai which can take some time. But Ulundurpettai has some good restaurants, where one can have very decent meals.

Travel is not good but its a interesting place to visit. Every time new interesting news from Trichy. I like very much but bus facility is bad and should improve the bus facilities. In Trichy there are some temples which are in good condition and place to visit in Trichy.
I travel frequently due to my nature of business. I prefer to travel by car to Trichy, as it saves time. Train journey is more comfortable in terms of sleep and safe. Flight journey is not worth as it too takes roughly 5 hrs in total to reach, even though flying time is half hour or so. What ever mode you travel, Place is good to stay as its in the central destination which one can easily approach.
Very good road to travel by day (In some patches road damaged but in spite of repeated written complaint with in a kilometer of Thirumangalam Toll Plaza there is a big pot hole which pose a great risk. Toll Plaza lacks basic amenities. Starting from Chennai by 6 Am will be ideal as we can escape the morning school hour rush between Tambaram and Chenglepat.
This bus operator did not have option of online booking. It is open ticket bus. Bus started timing in CMBT at 1.30 Pm. Reach Perugalathur at 2.15 Pm. Then bus was started at 3.30 Pm. They try to get open ticket in Perugalathur. And then A/C. This bus was not A/C Sleeper. This bus was a NON-A/C Sleeper name only suitable. If you broadcast like this bus. Really unhappy by this bus on Sunday. In open thicket they charge Rs 300/- Per head. Then why we use online booking and put ticket. If they sale ticket in open, we also go and buy ticket in open.
