The nearest airport and railway station to Munnar are at Kochi, which is 130 km away. Many buses and taxis ply to Munnar from Kochi, Coimbatore and Madurai. Nearest railway station to Munnar is Aluva which is 120 Kilometers away and Ernakulam Town and Ernakulam Junction which are 130 kms ... But the ride is with lots of twists and turns so do take care of your medications.

The hilly terrain of Munnar has good accessible roads, but they are narrow and bit risky especially during monsoons. Its advisable to plan your journey so that you enter the Ghat Section which is about 2-3 hours climb during the day time. KSRTC (both Karnataka and Kerela) have daily buses to Munnar from Bangalore and Eranakulam. KPN also has a service from Bangalore and Chennai. The route from Bangalore is Bangalore - Salem-Coimbatore - Udumalapet-Mariyoor- Munnar.

The best way to reach Munnar is to get to Cochin and then take the bus or hire a vehicle to reach Munnar in 3-4 hours. For local travel in Munnar request your hotel to organize a vehicle. There are star category hotels and resorts catering to the needs of tourists. Warm fleece jacket or woolen jumpers are necessary. Take an umbrella or raincoats because heavy clouds might appear quite suddenly over the mountains. After 5pm thick fog starts to envelope the hills sometimes giving zero visibility. Plastics are banned in Munnar panchayat. Avoid the monsoon season while visiting Munnar.

Nearest Airport as well as Rail head is Kochi about 130 km away. Buses are available from Kochi, but hiring a cab helps in coming to close contact with nature, there are a number of unknown sightseeing points on the way to Munnar, none of them will be missed ! So what are you waiting for ? Pack your baggage and you are out for an encounter with pristine nature, you will never forget !!!

Nearest Airport and Railway station to reach Munnar is at Kochi, which is 138km away. The drive from Kochi to Munnar takes around 3.5 to 4 hours. The worst part of the journey is within Kochi, wherein you experience traffic jams. The route to Munnar is scenic with abundant scenery. But the roads are full of sharp curves and you would be advised to eat lightly before travelling.
