Journey through car at the morning time by 6 am was like flying through the mist. This also makes a feel of travelling to Shimla. But this was not up to riding a bike on the queen of hills. My choice will be the bike when compared to any other vehicle.
It was a good journey with the fresh air and places we stopped to enjoy and view the nature. We got the best tea and hot snacks on the way which was quite relaxing and helped us in travel. Kothagiri road seems the best to travel to Ooty but its little longer than the Coonoor Road.
It is located near to Coimbatore, Tamil nadu and is just 60 km away. If you travel via two wheeler you can enjoy a lot. On the way, you can see Dottabetta, Baikara Falls, 6 Miles Lake, shooting spot, botanical garden, Glenn Morgan etc. Don't miss Glenn Morgan Ride, you will get a great feeling like travelling in a dense forest.
The trip is a wonderful experience with serene scenes along the way. The road is wonderfully laid and without any potholes or disturbances. The Kothagiri Town, Kodanandu View Point, Dodebetta Peak and all are on the way. There are few restaurants and tea shops on the way where we can refresh and continue the journey.
We started by 9.00 in the morning and reached Ooty by 1.00 pm and the travel was ok as the roads were good. As we travelled in our one car (self driving) we were very slow in driving otherwise the trip can be made in less than 3 hrs. Except for two places on the way (Mattupalayam and Coonoor) you do not have any place to refresh, eat or relax. You can also visit a few places in Coonoor like the dolphin's nose, Sims park, etc.
