The Ghat road starts from Mettupalayam which is about 50 km ahead of Ooty. During non season, the ghat road is used for two way traffic, ie, both up and down. But during summer season this way is allowed only for going up and the return journey is permitted though the Kodagiri route. The quality of road is very good on both the ways.
