The distance is around 110 km but journey by road takes 4 and 1/2 hours. The roads are not so good in September due to rains. The lakes and rivers are plenty and full flowing. In rainy season on the way to airport, please travel an hour earlier in case of any land slides and road wash outs. However the same is cleared in normally 30-40 min. Please carry extra food and water during journeys as a stand by arrangement.
The Jeep was average in terms of comfort. En-route, we enjoyed river rafting. The road was pretty average, and it was rough in some cases. Thankfully for us, we had a driver who was highly skilled and knew the roads inside out and that helped us to make it through safely. Whenever you are driving through hilly roads, it is important to have a good driver alongside.
By road we had a very smooth journey. We enjoyed the scenic beauty of nature. It was a very pleasing experience. It was Nature at its best, offering a once in a life time view. I had a very good view at the lovers point, and also took lots of photographs. And the best part is you can do all that on the way.
There were little bit bumpy roads on the way to Gangtok but it was worth it for the place which you are going to see. There were lot of scenery of Kanchenjunga on the way which you can enjoy, there was joint of river Teesta and Rangpo river which deserves a halt. Overall very good experience.
