Mysore --->55 Kms Gundulpet -----> 55 Kms Sulthan Bathery ----> 25 Kms Kalpetta - the district headquarters of Wayanad. Kalpetta is a junction place for all sight seeing places. We can get plenty of beautiful resorts and Home-stay in and around Kalpetta. Roads are too good, well maintained for driving.

From Bangalore its a 6 hr drive through Mysore, Gundlupet, Sulthan Bathery and Kalpetta. Vythri has a lot of jungle resorts. One can choose to stay in a jungle resort in Vythri or in Kalpetta. We stayed in a jungle resort which was great, but the approach road is through a jungle and only a Mahindra jeep can do it. There is another route which is baiscally going through Srirangapatna, Hunsur, Nagarhole, Tholpetty and reaching Kalpetta. THe drive is very beautiful as there is a 70 KM drive through the jungle, but about 18 kms of the road is bad.

Do not travel with family in night in forest area. its dangerous if you find a wild elephant in roadsides. maybe they attack you and your vehicle. if you find any elephant on the way please stop your vehicle. do not switch off your vehicle headlight. if they come near you dont make any noise. wait till they moved to other places. Mananthavady to Kutta route and Muthanga to Gundalpettu route is most dangerous in night drive. avoid these route in night. access to Wayanad:Calicut to Kalpetta 75 kms Madikeri ( Coorg ) to Mananthavady 120 kms. Mysore to Sulthan Bathery 120 kms. Ooty to Kalpetta 117 kms. Most important town in Wayanad district with accommodation options Mananthavady, Sulthan Bathery Kalpetta and Vythri. From Kalpetta easy access to most of all important tourist places in Wayanad.
