The nearest air head being Bangalore, you can drive down from there via Mysore which is about 3 hrs drive and then another 80 kms from Mysore to Kabini which takes about 2 hours. You could plan to spend a day in Mysore if you haven't been there, in particular, see the Main Palace as well as Jagamohan palace.

Most people will advise you to drive down from Bangalore, to be realistic it?s a 6hour drive, so a better way is to take a train from Bangalore to Mysore (2hr train ride) and then drive down from Mysore to Kabini (1.5hour drive)

Stay in Kabini at least for 2 days so that you can have at least 4 safaris in the morning as well as evening, as spotting wide animals like leopard and tigers may not always be possible. We were instructed not to wear perfume, bright or white cloths. Do carry all the necessary things with you as you won't find any shop near the sanctuary.
