We started after lunch from Hyderabad. We took the Vijaywada road (NH 9) till Narketpally which is about 90 km. Since the road is entirely 4 lane now (with toll, of course), we could cover the distance till Narketpally in about one and half hours. At Narketpally, we took the right turn to the state highway. Even this has been 4 lane and the road is very good minus the tolls. This passes through Nalgonda (byepass) Miryalguda Dachepally, Piduguralla and Sattenapalle before reaching Guntur. The SH-9 till Piduguralla is 4 lane and from there till Guntur is 2 lane. The total distance was about 270 km and we covered comfortably in 5 hours driving at reasonable speed (about 80 km/ph in clear stretches). This time includes driving out of Hyderabad and entering Guntur.

Such distances are ideal for driving without much strain and we never felt the distance.
At Sattenapalle Dodla milk factory is there and they have a sales counter outside on the road where we get fresh milk products like flavoured milk, lassi, junnu, peda, etc. It serves as a nice stop for a healthy refreshment.

Actually if you want to avoid the SH option you will need to drive straight till Vijaywada and then join NH-5 (Golden Quadrilateral portion from Kolkata to Chennai) and drive down to Guntur. But this is longer by about 40 km or so.

For the budget and central location the hotel is quite good. Ambience of the rooms and the reception area, etc. are adequate with no reason to complain. We went to Guntur without any hotel booking and we were happy to get two rooms as a walk-in guest. To go to Suryalanka beach, we decided to...more »

This train is comes sharp 4 pm at Hitech City Station and my seats was booked in advance. This train is very fast and it was easy to go to my friends marriage. We all friends enjoyed the journey and toilets are very bad, water not available. Food served in the train was not good but costly. Evening weather is so cool so we enjoyed the fresh air.
