Malikkapuram temple is located just on the left to the Ayyapan temple and symbolises the relationship between Lord Ayyapan and Malikkapurathamma. One has to walk up to the Sannidhanam from the base camp. People who are unable to walk, special palanquin services such (Dolly) are provided. This will cost about Rs1000 plus tip charge. One can also hire farm donkeys and horses to be taken to Sannidhanam. There are no fancy shops or malls available in Sabarimala. Super markets and small spice shops can be found. Dainty little restaurants can be found of the way to Sabarimala which offers Kerala Cuisine, but its best to carry your own food. Coconut oil, rice, seafood is significant in Kerala cuisine and spices such a pepper, cloves, ginger are popular in this area. Alcohol is strictly prohibited in Sabarimala. This religious place is a calm alternative with respect to other cities.
