Travelling tips to Shillong
The Road through the Land of the Clouds
Lots of companies run bus services through Meghalaya. However, book tickets a few days in advance if desirous of taking the AC luxury buses [recommended]. Due to sensitive situation in these places, it is strongly recommended that one avoids night bus journey. Please dress soberly and do not enter into debates on political or sectarian issues.

Shillong
Well there are no special tips. However since it is the land of clouds, you must be prepared lest a sudden downpour catches you unaware. I landed at Guwahati airport and took a taxi to Shillong, however there is another airport around 25 kms from Shillong at a place called UMRI (I hope I remember the name right). Carry less luggage and enjoy your heart out!

Shillong-heaven in the clouds
Finally its nice to stay at Umium lake resort for one/two days, the beauty of the lake is far better than the much hyped Dal-lake in Srinagar. Prior booking is a must for that resort. Enjoy the unspoiled nature to the fullest extent in Shillong.
