Mounts Abu is 200km by road from Ahmedabad city of Gujarat. this being nearst airport, and Indian railway junction with good train availability(from where trains to foot hills of mounts abu ,namely 'Abu road station'is available with ease,and excellent roads aporching mounts from Ahmadabad and also state transport corpration runs bus facilities avaliable .one can hire vehicals also .Mount Abu can be also reached from Jaipur ,Udaipur as nearst airport in Rajasthan state.by road it is aprox .250 km from Udaipur and 400 km from Jaipur.those travelling from state of Rajasthan side can aproches this way.WARNINGS:-climate during summer is very hot below hills in Rajasthan and nearing state Gujarat about 32-46 degree celcious.so chance of thermal shock to those not habituated to such climate. further liquor is prohibited in Gujarat ,the nearing state .so obey law as soon as you leave Rajasthan state border.

The nearest railhead is Abu Road, about 25 kms away, in the lowlands. Abu Road is on the railway line from Ahmedabad to Marwar Junction (onwards to Jaipur and Delhi or Jodhpur). At Abu Road, car-taxis and cabs are available as well as state transport and private buses to take you to Mt Abu.

We stay in Mumbai. Abu Road is major station and mostly all the trains stop at this station. People can take a cab or bus to reach Mt Abu which will take roughly 1 hour. We would request people to visit in monsoon or winter to enjoy the scenic beauty. Have warm clothes while travelling in winter as its freezing cold.

It’s merely a 45 min drive from Abu road, the rail head for mount Abu. Abu road is very well connected to all major cities of Rajasthan. Its advisable not to travel from abu road to mount in night s there are stray incidents of looting by adivasis! Plus night strolling on outskirts is dangerous as many beers and leopards roam around at night.

I went to Mt Abu in May. I think I should try some other season. One may bargain for local / to & fro taxi travels. One can reach Abu road by train conveniently and from where taxi service is available to reach Mt Abu. It better to book accommodation in advance, though we did not find any difficulty to find accommodation on reaching Mt Abu.
