Located at the foothills of Trikuta Mountains, Katra is frequented by devotees to seek the blessing of Goddess Vaishno Devi, the locale’s presiding deity. Katra demands attention on the basis of it being the starting point of the 14 km strenuous trek up the mountainous region to ultimately reach the abode of Vaishno Devi.

Apart from trekking up the hill to pay respects to Goddess Vaishno Devi, Katra is a nature lovers’ paradise presenting panoramic views of the surrounding area. Sightseeing in Katra includes Shiv Khori, a cave temple that should not be missed. Dera Baba Banda is another picturesque location in addition to being a place of worship of Sikhs. Nau Devi Temple located on the banks of River Charan Ganga is at a short distance from Katra along with Baba Dhansar Temple which is another beautiful and serene pilgrimage destination.

After having our flight from Delhi to Jammu, we took a Innova from Jammu for our holy Darshan of Mata Vaishno Devi, Katra. It was around 1 hour drive from Jammu to Katra. It's a good highway and nicely built. Overall, very good drive and nice experience. We visited in Feb 2015.

It was very nice travel experience by train. The staff were good, service was nice and ticket rates were good.

Jammu and Katra visit was fantastic. Mata Vaishno Devi shrine board has done a fantastic job in regards to accommodation and food service.

SRS is one of the prominent traveler. The bus service, quality, punctuality is awesome. I would like to travel again and again with SRS traveler. Place is awesome and climate is soo good. Please visit the place in the season of October to november and april to june. its heaven.
