Jamshedpur to Puri by Maruti 800 car

I have visited Puri recently by my Maruti 800 car with my family from Jamshedpur. It was a 12 hours journey from Jamshedpur with 3-4 small breaks. Though many travellers written that It takes only seven hours to reach Puri. But I personally feel it is not possible, if you drive in 75 - 80 km/h speed. And I strongly recommend not to drive beyond 80. The surface of NH5 from Balasore to Bhubaneswar is awesome. NH5 from Jharpokharia to Balasore is also good. No problem to drive. NH203 Bhubaneswar to Puri is not too good, have tremendous traffic(specially in evening). But Orissa govt. is expanding this road and hopefully shall be completed by the end of 2012. The worst road is NH33 from Jamshedpur to Baharagora. There are endless potholes. I stongly recommend every one to avoid this road if you love your life and your car. Instead you can take SH50 (via Rairangpur - Bosoi). NH6 from Baharagora to Jharpokharia or Bisoi to Jharpokharia is also very bad. Drive very carefully in this area.

Bhubaneswar ,the capital of Orissa, is just about two hours drive from Puri , the railroad taking about half an hour less. Bhubaneswar is well connected by the railroad as well by air to all the state capitals of india as well as to the national capital of Delhi. Since the call of the sea is irresistible here ,it is best to stay in a hotel near the sea beach so as to facilitate a fast bath in fresh water after a session in the saline waters .

Puri: A must go place for all

The best way to reach Puri is by rail. It is well connected by major cities of India by a lot of Express Trains. However, one can fly to Bhubaneswar and then take a cab to reach Puri.
