Best Option is to take train - both cheap and comfortable, from Sealdah (Kolkata) to Hasimara by Kanchankanya Express. You can also book a vehicle from Bagdogra Airport to Madarihat. Always book a Government Tourist Lodge to avail Elephant Ride which is really a wonderful experience. Keep plenty of mosquito repellents with you. Carry Head Cover - Caps/ Hats in Summer and Winter Caps in Winter. Sunglasses. Always wear fully covered footwear's - shoes, sneakers (best). If you are going with kids below 5 years, whenever you are in any safari in any jungle their ears must be covered.

By train from Chalsa. Train journey amidst the forests from Chalsa to Madarihat is really a experience. By road from Falakata. but the joueney is pathetic as the road condition is worse.
