The 325km. road from Delhi to Nainital varies from superb to bumpy. Two alternatives while driving down - Delhi-Haldwani-Nainital or Delhi- Haldawani- Bhimtal- Bhowali- Nainital. Only 30 odd kms. After haldwani is hilly. Anothewr way is the Kathgodam Express to Kathgodam/Haldwani and a 1-2 hour road trip to Nainital. Taxis - shared or private - and buses are available

The journey from Delhi to Nainital is 326 km. Absolutely stunning road from Delhi till Muradabad (elevated toll road). After that, till Haldwani its mixed- smooth/broken/narrow/busy etc. If you start from Delhi early morning, you'll quickly bypass the busy Hapur Moradabad stretch which gets busy with trucks and the city traffic as the daylight increases. Have breakfast at the famous Giani Hotel in Gajraula, and move ahead. After Haldwani, its hilly climb of 23 km, easy and smooth. Takes roughly an hour and half to reach Nainital. DO NOT eat at any of the Reliance A-1 plazas- the food is pathetic, and the service lousy. There are long stretches without inhabitation so check your stepni etc.

By road – Delhi- Nainital distance is 310 kms and it takes approximately 7 Hours. By train – nearest railway station is Kathgodam, 34 kms from Nainital from where one can take a cab. By air – nearest airport is at Pantnagar, 70 kms from naintal . Accommodation is available in plenty but do make bookings in advance if you are traveling during the peak season. Local transport is easily available. Numerous eating joints dot the Mall road and for the shopoholics you can buy candles, candles and more candles! So if you are planning a trip to a North Indian hill-station, do not give Nainital a miss ! It will truly be a memorable experience where its beautiful lakes will bring the cherished reminiscences for days to come.
