The route from Cochin to Munnar is via Kothamangalam and Adimali and till Kothamangalam the drive was through a typical town road but the real excitement was the drive from Neryamangalam Bridge to Adimali. On crossing the bridge it is forest area and no need to look for the sign board, we will realize it on seeing the monkeys playing on both sides of the road and branches of trees. They are harmless but occasional cases of monkeys taking the hand bags and other items from the vehicles were reported. Also, we will feel the fresh air, can hear the murmuring of the forest and the drive after the check post is remarkable. The drive through the zigzag road was awe-inspiring and we had to be careful about the vehicles coming down from Munnar.

On reaching Valara we stopped to see the waterfalls and several vehicles were parked there. Luckily the waterfall was in full stream due to the pre-monsoon rains. After spending some time there we continued our journey and on reaching Adimali town we bought water bottles and snacks. Adimali is a town famous for spices shops and people from settlements nearby come down to the town for selling their commodities. From Adimali it is only 30 km to Munnar but it took more than 90 minutes to reach Munnar because of the continuous flow of people coming back after visiting Munnar. The view of the hills and valleys, the mist and the occasional sight of streams flowing down from the hill top are precious.

On reaching Chithirapuram, we can see sign boards of several resorts, hotels and home stays. We drove to Munnar town which was not very crowded as expected and then headed to Chinnakanal where the Mountain Club Resort is but in between we took some time to drive through the Gap Road which is one of the most adventurous and exciting road to drive. Narrow road with rock mount on one side and steep valley on the other side we have to drive very carefully. Several resorts like Club Mahindra, Siena Village Lake Zone, etc are located in Chinnakanal and we drove past to the end where the Mountain Club Resort is. Driving and enjoying the nature is bit dangerous but the thrill is beyond description.

We always change the resorts or hotels when we stay in Munnar because each one will give diverse ambiance. We have stayed in most of the good resorts located in Chinnakanal, Munnar but I have to say that "Mountain Club" gave us an astounding feel. Right from the entrance we could feel the...more »

We went to Munnar in a bus of ARC travels. It was clean inside the bus but it lacked WiFi. It is an AC bus but you do not require AC in Munnar because it is cold there. We reached Munnar early morning. I was shocked by the beauty of nature there. I was also happy with the bus service and so I could enjoy the journey. Make sure that you are carrying a sweater for the journey.

The route to Munnar from Cochin is full of winding roads but the scenic beauty is surreal. Before the climb, you can stop at Adimali, a town at the foot of the hills and take a short break. During the climb you will see small waterfalls and further down the road you will get to see monkeys. Overall a pleasing experience.

Many turns during the travel. So took a long time to reach Munnar. During travel you would get lot many serene places including hills, tea gardens and waterfalls. One can also visit spice gardens on the way. Charges are 100 Rs per person, you can also purchase spices and coconut oil from there.

The travelling experience was excellent. The roods are fine although not very broad but no traffic congestion. The view along the side of journey was marvelous, lush green valleys. Beautiful villages in between the journey with very beautiful church. Enjoy the local beauty with very calm and marvelous lush green valleys.
