It was a unique experience, we visited Diamond Harbour and Hatania Doania on the way of Bakkhali. We started our journey at 6am. We took some light food from Sarisha after a long drive we reached Diamond Harbour. We seated beside the river and watched the scenic view of the river. Then we started our journey. We both were excited when we reached. Hatania Doania river, found so many fishing boat and ship were ready go for fishing; after crossing the river I drive a long and reached Bakkhali.

Only one bus service is available for Bakkhali. It will take 5-6 hrs, it might be uncomfortable because the bus is not a A.C one, but the road is good. At Namkhana bus will cross the river through a Launch. This moment will be awesome. You need to do advance booking at Esplanade S.B.S.T.C office. Similarly for return journey book advance ticket at Bakkhali.

The bus service was good. The bus was on time. But do not rely to the booking counter guy even if he says that no seats are available. They cunningly set aside few seats to be sold out at a higher price. So do hammer them properly before you believe that no seats are available. There are only two buses per day. One at 6.30 am in the morning and other at 2 pm.

I have stayed in this hotel from 18th April 2014 to 20th April 2014. In one word the experience was horrible. I have never ever stayed in such a bad condition in my life. I was charged Rs.830 per double bed non a/c room that too in the top floor in this month of summer. After entering the room...more »

We the group of 4 have started journey on a morning (5 am) when Kolkata has seen its worst raining experience. I started from Shyambazar and collected 3 others from Saltlake and Behala area. Almost it was impossible for us to see the roads while it was raining cats and dogs. Finally we moved towards Bakkhali around 6:30. Now, till Amdanga the roads are not smooth. They have holes everywhere and it was tough for us to judge them in rain. Speed was then around 60 kmph. But after that we had a great smooth road which lasted till Bakkhali, but it was a two lane one. Now while it was a heavy rainy day we hardly found any place to eat, even a tea shop wasn't there. After reaching Namkhana (where you have to cross river Hatania Doania by boat) we had to wait for 30 mins for the boat and we took snacks there. After crossing the river the roads were heaven smooth. We topped 110 kmph then.

Now the worst part.
We were returning on Sunday afternoon. We started around 4. Reached smoothly at Namkhana. It was dark already then. By that time we saw too much crowd in the roads and no street light on NH117 and all the cvehicles that were coming from the opposite side had upper light on. So it was hard to drive see and move. This becomes worst if you are coming back on evening. It took so much time in jam that I was almost sweating in AC in tension while driving. All the buses don't care if you are there on the road or not. So return at evening is totally avoidable.
