The train was neat and clean. It was an overnight journey. Reached Sealdah on time. We got food packed from Food Plaza at NJP Station. But the Biriyani was stale, could not eat. This train is better than Kanchankanya Express. Maintains time. Hawkers move around selling food and drinks, toys etc.
We had booked Darjeeling Mail 60 days prior to the journey using Internet. This train is really neat and clean. But catering is not available. We reached NJP about 30 minutes late. But the entire journey was very good. Everybody should prefer this train over the other trains.
Best way to travel North Bengal is by train. One can catch a train leaving Kolkata at night and reach New Jalpaiguri in the morning. As the train travel at night there is not much activity that can be done, except sleep and keep oneself fully charged up for the journey next day.
We booked for 2nd A/C and its good, coach and bathroom all are very clean. They provided blankets, pillow, covers etc and all are cleaned well. This train doesn't have any catering service, so you need to carry your dinner or complete dinner before train starts. We reached NJP without delay and didn't face any issue during travel.
It is a 11 hour night journey. The train left Sealdah Railway Station around 9:55 Pm. We all just had our dinner and prepared our bed up and felt a sleep. It was nice and comfortable journey, all night long. In the morning the train arrived on time. We were very exited about the journey.
