Darjeeling Mail was very fast and also a very clean train. The train was on time and the food was very delicious. Its was like a 1st class train and the next time when I travel to Darjeeling I shall travel by this train only. I suggest this train for a beautiful journey.
I can't tell you much about the experience in the train as maximum time of the journey I have slept. When I woke up in the morning at 9 am it was in the outer of the New Jalpaiguri (NJP) Station. Nice train with clean toilets. On time arrival at the NJP Station. Booked the tickets prior to 60 days.
Best way to travel to Darjeeling is going by flight from Kolkatta to Bagdora Airport. From there take a cab for Darjeeling. In case you plan to return back by flight and catch connecting trains from Kolkata have at least 6 hours time in between as flights mostly get delayed at Bagdogora.
It was a nice and a wonderful journey by train. Good people in the train and outside view from the train was very good and pleasant. I enjoyed the most of it. People should visit here more than once. Take a joy ride in toy train and visit hill station. The rock garden was a charming one. Good chance of photography and will give you a adventurous experience.
