Short and sweet travel experience. The roads are good and nothing special. The ghat drive was scenic and enjoyable. The approach to Sterling from the lake needs improvement. I usually drive myself and found it enjoyable. The drive and my trip were fantastic and memorable.
We had a nice trip to Kodaikanal that to in a car, so that you can stop wherever you want to take snaps because there we had lot of good scenes to take photos with family to have good memories. You will not get this comfort when you by train or bus. I advise to have your own vehicle, especially a 4 x 4 vehicle to enjoy more.
The best time to travel is in the morning. We called the Country Club Vista to send a taxi to pick us up. Due to the hilly road it was not such a comfortable experience but of course the scenic beauty of the woods were mind refreshing. The roads in the cities don't offer much of the greenery but the forest trails do which is good. We travelled in the evening so we could watch the sunset and the darkness cease the sunlight easily. Less street lights made it a bit uneasy journey having our heart in our mouth. Morning times are good. We couldn't find any dhaba as expected so we carried our dinner with us. The twisting roads may make you feel dizzy so carry Avomin or Vertidome or any other medicine of such sort.
The journey took around 3-4 hours from Madurai to Kodaikanal as we were stopping by at many picturesque location throughout the roads. We had taken a non-ac bus as Kodaikanal is a hilly area. The bus driver and conductor was very helpful and well-behaved. Travelling by bus offers excellent beauty on both sides.
We were mirthful during journey. The taxi driver was very considerate & cooperative. Weather was pretty good. Overall a good & refreshing journey. The taxi was new & driving was extremely good. Pine trees & other huge trees were standing calm & appearing to convey their pain of hot climate.
