Try Darshan at Dharmasthala as early as possible in the morning. Avoid Mondays, they are very very busy. Do not try hotels they are not of high standard. Temple food is traditional and good. Weekend trip to Dharmastala and Kukke

I'd suggest to visit these places during off reason (preferably Feb) so that students & parents are busy with exam preparations. :-) No prior reservation allowed in Dharmastala temple choultries. Kukke is usually humid and sometimes tough to find hotels. My blog has some details about this. Its better to take a A/C room.
