For affordable & quick trip opt flight to Mangalore as Bangalore has hell lot of traffic prob & cab will not cost u much in mangalore as comparing to bangalore. Select hotels which are within 1-2 km frm mysore palace as it saves time & money & city bus stand is near so by paying 15rs u can get city guide to follow buses routes & the bus service is really best.

From Bangalore, take the Mysore Highway. I is just a 150 KM drive and the road is in an excellent condition. You will really enjoy the drive. For people relying on public transport, you can take a Volvo from Bangalore. Every half an hour a Volvo departs from Bangalore to Mysore. Then there is also a train which goes to Mysore from Bangalore,

Train from Bangalore not recommended unless you use the upmarket ones. Bus is comfortable or Car as gives you more mobility. Avoidable during the Holiday season and Dussera as it gets crowded . You can get very good bargains upto 30 percent off on Rooms in the Resorts around during the weekdays which have pools etc.
