Try to start your journey early morning (6 Am). That way you will save about an hour. Vithal Kamats at Mahad(180 km from Mumbai) is a good option for breakfast. After Khed when you climb on top of Parshuram Ghat turn left for the temple. As soon as you climb down the ghat look out for the right turn (leave NH-17) for Guhagar. You can halt at the Golden Sand Beach of Guhagar for some fresh air. Move on to Velneshwar for some more divine blessing at the Shiva Temple. Next halt at Hedvi. Order a typical Konkani Thali at a small restaurant opp the temple which will be served in 30 min. In the meantime you can visit the temple. You will probably reach Ganapatipule at 5 Pm if you halt at all these places and enjoy your journey while a non-stop journey will take you about 8 hours.

A beach town in Ratnagiri District. The MTDC resort is right at the beach. Please book in advance. There is a Ganapati temple at the beach. Avoid Tuesdays as the beach may get crowded. However the part of the beach in front of MTDC resort is always sparse and you can thoroughly enjoy...more »

The NH17 is under process of widening. Hence motorists may have to face some discomforts, traffic snarls etc. Till Indapur. In general the Highway is in good condition, though not in best condition.

The highway is expected to be little bad once rains start.

Mode of Transport:Train
Comfortable journey, as this train has the most optimum timing for having a good night's sleep, especially with small kids around! You can have the breakfast after alighting at Ratnagiri Station the morning. If you get up a bit early, the landscape is awesome.

I spent 3 days in the MTDC Ganpatipule during the first week of April 2015 along with family and friends. We had leased out the Sea View cottage, which is perched on top of a small hillock, with breathtaking views of the sea. MTDC can do a better job for the upkeep/refurbishing the rooms, which...more »

We had to board the train from Mumbai and got down at Ratnagiri Station. From there we took a rickshaw which charged 450 Rs. IRCTC is the best way to travel to Ganpatiphule. Alternatively if you live in Maharashtra you can drive as well. Nice scenic beauty. Trains make your journey time saving.

Travelling from Kolhapur to Ganpatipule through Malkapur was too good. Proper roads, no potholes, lovely view of greenery and sea. We were not tired of travelling for four hours as the place is non polluted. Always prefer MTDC for a night stay. Food is tantalizing, beach is close to the resort. Tariff is affordable for the quality of the resort.

Visit the temple, offer your puja. Morning 7.00 a.m. you can perform abhishek - which takes you close to Ganesha. Remember not to miss the Pradikshina round the mountain which is I suppose one and only one temple with such pradiskhina.
