Journey was good but road condition between Pen and Panvel is bad .. It's a scenic view but roads are bad for atleast couple of hours between the mentioned places .. You should have a good SUV type car which can absorb jerks during the travel .. Also if you have driver that will make you life more easy and you can enjoy the travel time with your love ones ..

We took the normal NH-66 Goa highway route to Ganpatipule. A little bit about the road condition it is a sort of a roller coaster one has to be quite alert throughout the journey. I am unable to recall any section which had any road dividers (except for the stretch from Mumbai to Panvel). So oncoming vehicles, ie, trucks, speed demons, etc are quite common. There are many villages along the way and hence many speed breakers every few kms. The road is winding and the height level keeps on changing hence one has to be more cautious. It is the shortest possible km wise route but one should note its is not a time saver also depends on the speed one is travelling. The distance is around 560 km.

Started early morning to avoid Mumbai traffic. It was next day to finalise so traffic was in general less throughout the journey. It's approx 375km. Roads are excellent. But major stops/cities are very few on the way. Took Mumbai-Pune expressway till khopoli turn than 40km of 2lane Road till I came back to mumbai-goa highway. Surprised that the road was 2lane only but still good to drive. Last 50km is seriously kind of across barren/vacant land. Reached with one stop for food. Total time 7hours.

Ganpatipule anyways doesn't have many mid range hotels, either they are very economical, (like this hotel) or quite expensive resorts. This hotel was very economical plus we used online booking to avail best price. We booked a 4 bedroom. It was clean with very basic amenities. Room had attached...more »

Starts early morning 5.30, reaches Ratnagiri at 10.45 am. It's a chair car. The travel in non-ac coaches could be a little unpleasant due to the large number of tunnels on the way which cause air pressure to drop. The train was on time. From ratnagiri, we took an auto to our resort in ganpatipule. The auto driver charged us 500.

Had a relaxing stay at the resort with elegant and comfortable room, excellent pool and spa facilities. Pool side was open 24x7 for people to sit around and relax ( except for the hourly maintenance in the afternoon). Located 2km uphill from the main beach. One can walk down to the beach for a...more »

Try to start your journey early morning (6 Am). That way you will save about an hour. Vithal Kamats at Mahad(180 km from Mumbai) is a good option for breakfast. After Khed when you climb on top of Parshuram Ghat turn left for the temple. As soon as you climb down the ghat look out for the right turn (leave NH-17) for Guhagar. You can halt at the Golden Sand Beach of Guhagar for some fresh air. Move on to Velneshwar for some more divine blessing at the Shiva Temple. Next halt at Hedvi. Order a typical Konkani Thali at a small restaurant opp the temple which will be served in 30 min. In the meantime you can visit the temple. You will probably reach Ganapatipule at 5 Pm if you halt at all these places and enjoy your journey while a non-stop journey will take you about 8 hours.
