Just when everything around gets chaotic and starts spinning on a pace which is uncontrolled, comes a trip like Kashid - a road trip during the monsoons where the lush green and the buzz of the insect life is so seductive. You wish you could actually hold on the wheels of time and cajole it to stop! Simply because the moment is so picture perfect that everything comes to an absolute stand still.
The road trip from Mumbai to Kashid is a dream. We started off at 7:00 AM with a lazy stopover at Dattaguru for breakfast - a truly lip smackingly delicious 'Kanda Poha and Sabudana Khichdi' over endless cups of chai and conversation around travel and more. What was interesting was this joint is the pit stop for most the bikers who use the stunning highway to give them the 'wind beneath their wings' moment.
Long winding roads, the eighties music, the children's chatter and the fauna wove a spell. Road trips are all about that and more. It is about observing how concrete structure gives way to lush green. How the stunning birds play hide and seek. How the vista changes and leaves us spell bound!
A must do if you are planning to hit a land of virgin beaches and stunning sunsets!
Itís a little about 5 hours from Bombay. But last 30 km felt like getting stretched. Had to go till Alibaug and then have to take a left from inside the villages. That stretch is very tiring and last 10 km was fun as we were driving along the beach.
Long route you have to travel by road. Morning time is very good to start a trip. So start early. Though road conditions are not that good, yet you can enjoy if you are in a group. There are many eateries and restaurants that you can get on the way, and you will love them for sure. Carry your iPods, music players while you visit the place. You can certainly have a good time.
