I have been flying with Jet Airways and I am a Jet Privilege Member as well. I have been getting excellent services always. Jet Airways is the best. Srinagar airport was good as well but needs to improve. The Extra security checks are really disturbing and time consuming.
Do not choose Jet Airways while going to Kashmir. They sometimes block the window and make it impossible for passengers to photograph the beauty of Kashmir from above. The in-flight food is quite good and you would also get some additional Jet Points for traveling if you are a member but then, the whole fun is marred when they shut their windows an hour or so before landing.
This hotel has excellent service and the food is also very good here. I would definitely recommend going here to stay and you could even arrange a taxi to go local sightseeing from here. The hotel staff are extremely friendly and on my birthday in October 2011, they even gave me a saffron...more »
The train was good but it was a very long journey. It takes almost 36 hours to reach Jammu from Mumbai. It is fun if you are travelling with a big family, cousins or friends. But if you travelling alone, I suggest you to take a flight. It is very very boring alone. Otherwise the facilities are good. The scenery during the journey is also amazing since the train travels through Punjab which is quite beautiful.
We visited Kashmir, last August. We choose to go there in off-season to have crowd-less environment, greenery all around was the most breath taking experience I ever had.
If you haven't been to Kashmir yet, you must go!!! If have been there, I don't have to tell you, you would go again on your own. That's the real beauty of the place and its people. People are very friendly, pleasant to talk to. You shall make it a point to visit apple orchards in Kashmir.
Fun part was the airport: we could find birds inside the airport lounge, I guess weather was to rough for them!!
