Neat and clean roads with bridges all over to save your time, with singes, Authentic south indian snack and food joint

Stopped here en route on the Mum-Ahd highway..

Good service and friendly staff. Very good food. Plenty of space for families and groups as well. Ample parking with helpers also.

Self service and so coupons on one side and food delivery on the other... Please check what is given where before taking the coupons so as to avoid confusion...

There is too much on delivery counter no 1 while other 2 are vacant so the hotel needs to pay attention here

If you are driving out from Mumbai to Gujarat or Vapi or Surat, this happens to be the ideal place for a break in journey. Situated on NH-8 near Manor, it serves nice hot breakfast and other meals. I happened to stop for Breakfast although I was tempted to drive further since the road is very good at this stretch. It is self service place where coupons are to be purchased beforehand. A long queue indeed for both coupons and the food items. But it is worth the wait as you get freshly prepared hot south indian items. Mysore masala dosa was good and Idly was OK. I could get poori bhaji, as it was finished.

Washrooms are also available which are relatively clean.

The Mumbai - Ahmedabad Highway (NH8) is among the 'heavy traffic' national highways, so there was some apprehension at driving down rather than taking the Shatabdi Express.

First things first: you can't beat the Shatabdi for the speed with which it drops you off at Surat.

Second: the car sets you free from schedules of the WR. So, a departure delay of 30 mins won't mean you miss the train!

The exit from Mumbai at Dahisar remains a typically Mumbai traffic story - you spend a lot of time waiting for vehicles ahead of you to pay the toll before your time comes up. Once out of Mumbai, it is a smooth drive. Four toll plazas between Mumbai and Surat is a bit of a pain - why can't they take all tolls at the MEP toll naka at Dahisar?

The NH8 is a foodie's paradise - you have some food joint or the other after every few km. Choose from McDonalds and Pizza joints to traditional Gujju food, plus the south Indian snacks. OK, watch out for the small kiosks after Udwada, where you get vendors selling 'Ubadiyu' (Surti Undhiyu minus the oil = a healthy food option).

Once you cross into Gujarat, keep in mind that it is a 'dry' state; so alcohol is a no-no.

Flyovers dot the NH8, which ensures a really fast drive, and from the point we crossed out of Mumbai at Dahisar Toll Naka, we were in Surat in a little over three and a half hours.

The monsoon made the scenery even more beautiful.

Major tourist destinations along the way are the beaches (Bordi in Maharashtra, Vitthal in Gujarat), Dandi for the Mahatma Gandhi salt satyagraha museum, Daman for a touch of Portuguese history and Dadra Nagar Haveli for tribal culture. Branch off for Saputara hill station or the Dang jungles. There's lots of places to visit along the way.

As far as the actual Mumbai - Surat stretch is concerned, NH8 is truly a smooth experience.

A two night stay requirement in Surat (a combination of Diamond City as also Textile Hub) resulted in searching for a hotel easily accessible from NH8, as also not in a 'traffic jam' zone. On both parameters, this one worked: access from Kadodra Four Roads turning from NH8 is easy. Proximity to...more »

I visited Surat via train i.e. Flying Ranee. The journey was very pleasant. The train provided memorable views during the journey. The train is clean so one can easily travel for long time. The cleanliness of toilets of the train are average so the passenger shall not have an issue. The good thing about the train is that the train is not over crowded so one can easily travel. Flying Ranee is a double decker train, which has 2 floors. One is a ground floor and the other is a top floor. Journey was great and it was awesome. Overall a very good experience with the train.

We visited the place with kids. It is a sandy beach. Sea water reaches shores during tides otherwise there is nothing like a regular beach. The crowd puller is the bhaji sellers. You can find amazing variety of bhaji here. The special one is Tomato bhaji. Mouth watering taste.

I often travel to Surat and I prefer Mumbai-Ahmedabad, Shatabdi Express. This train gives full day's time to complete the work and return back to Mumbai same day. The train is always on time. The seat is comfortable. The provide packaged drinking water bottle of 1 liter, news paper, tea or coffee and breakfast which is very good till Surat. Jain breakfast is also there.

The train arrives Surat at sharp 09:40 Am.
