I travelled one way by flight and other way via train. From Udaipur I took taxi to Mount Abu. The distance is around 160 km. If you want to avoid this distance then one should directly take a train till Abu Road Station which is on foothill of Mount Abu. However, if travellling by flight, Udaipur is only nearest Airport.

We were in 3rd AC and we enjoyed a lot, especially my kids were very happy for this long awaited family trip. The tickets were booked by my brother-in-law. Train was few minutes late but we got every thing in train on time like bedding was cleaned and fresh. Temperature was very well-maintained.
Traveling by Rajdhani was awesome. Ya, it would be preferable to book train at least a month prior, though we did it a couple of weeks before and it was waiting. But thankfully till the end we managed to get it confirmed. I am a regular flight person so it was great to travel by train (offcourse everywhere flight doesn't go). Food service was good, train was clean and tidy.
