There is no public transport available from Ooty to Kodaikanal. So, we had arranged the journey before around 1.5 months from from a local hotel of Ooty. If you want a comfortable journey, then I think you need to hire a private taxi/cab, but it would be very costly. So, if someone is ready for that then they should travel by taxi Only. There was no problem in travelling though. The bus stopped on regular interval for refreshment. It took 8 hr to reach there.
Wow, excellent journey from Ooty to Kodai in the bus and bus is not good but journey i.e. sightseeing is very good. The road is very large and wide road from Ooty to Kodaikanal. The valleys were very nice, road is somewhat dangerous and lots of sharp bends were there. Experienced drivers only should drive in this road.
The journey from Ooty to Kodaikanal was taken by me in a small bus. The roads are very good and the bus also plied smoothly, but it was a small bus with very cheap amenities. I did not take a cab as I was alone travelling with my family. There are no good buses available in this route and I could not find a single good one. The view through the roads was good. Once one comes down from the Ooty hill and run through plain area and again climb up to another hill for Kodaikanal. The road quality was however very good. It contains around 16-18 hair pin curves which are really enjoyable.
There is a train for Kodaikanal so if you can travel then itís the best. It was great experience as I travelled in the car from Ooty to Kodaikanal. Car journey was good but itís a long distance journey of 68 km of ghat section for Kodaikanal. Good scenery and views with refreshing rain, fog and it was too cool out there.
The view was very good. roads were also good. There were nice outlets providing good food to the travellers on the highway. The best part was the view of the forests and the mountain on the way. We also came across some wild animals like elephants and deer on the way. Over all it was a nice trip.
