We asked many localities how to reach Shirdi from Pune, most of them recommended State Transport. As it is safe and reaches on time in comparison with others where there is no safety and reaches as per their convenience not as per the scheduled timings. On the Highway, it takes a halt at a average hotel where you can have some snacks but I would recommend keep your own snacks and water bottle with you.
When I visit Shiridi I would book ticket from Neeta Tours where their service is tremendous and they usually keep up their time punctuality is maintained by their team. No matters about the starting point time they wait till booked passengers to be boarded and reach the destination on time.
We (me and my 4 friends) started to Pune Railway Station from Vishrantwadi and got to Pune Station by Government bus. Then further we went by JHELUM EXPRESS. We lest the boarding point at 5:20 Pm. The train was on time. It took 6 hours to reach Kopargaon at 11:15 Pm. Then from there we took a shared auto off capacity 15 people. The fair was 50 rupees each. The we were dropped at SAINIK ARAM GRAH ( for army personnel only)at midnight. We would have waited there till morning arti at 9 Am. But we all didn't preferred to loose the morning ARTI to we started our march towards SHIRDI it was around 2 Am.
We were all alone and also we didn't have much proper direction to proceed. We were faked many times by seeing very big idle of Sai. Finally we reached the original destination around 3 Am. It was too early to reach there. So we slept there at the steel benches lined up for queue. Then at 4 Am the doors got opened and we were there at the common puja hall. We were back to open sky at 6 Am. Then we visited the places around. At 11 Am we set back to Pune by the Sai Train JHELUM EXPRESS. It was a nice journey a spiritual one with all the essence of tracking since we were all together.
Overall it was good. I booked my ticket online. Got the bus no and all details on time. Although bus was very good but staff members were not that good. Bus started bit late from Pune but reached destination on time. Overall, good because it is not a long journey.
Very good road to travel. You can opt for a bus or a taxi, but I will recommend you to take a non A/C bus, because the climate you get is Majestic. And you can have many dhabas for refreshment. Also petrol pumps are also available. Beware of the local bus companies. They will thug you. Prefer the govt buses, which starts taking passengers from 6:30 am.
