Very good road to travel. You can opt for a bus or a taxi, but I will recommend you to take a non A/C bus, because the climate you get is Majestic. And you can have many dhabas for refreshment. Also petrol pumps are also available. Beware of the local bus companies. They will thug you. Prefer the govt buses, which starts taking passengers from 6:30 am.
Itís the most peaceful and safe journey of my life. Pune to Shirdi, I would always like to travel by this route as Pune Nagar road is the best road I have been and on the way there is no traffic and due the wider roads I could travel more distance in shorter time which not only saves my time but also gives me lot of pleasure.
Overall a very good route except for last 24 km. We went via Nagar Road. Route was good. Route has good restaurants and petrol pumps. We followed google maps GPS. Its very accurate.
I would advise you to take good rest at night and start early morning. Please avoid night driving because people here in India drive crazy during night and don't respect fellow drivers. Avoid as much as possible overall route connects you through city and suburban road. You may not feel secluded while driving. We went during November and it is very hot during that time. I can imagine how can it be in summer :)
Nothing special on this route but if you take alternate route which connects Nashik Pune route then that is awesome. You will enjoy the drive but you cant drive fast because its not national highway.
We required four hours to travel from Pune to Shirdi. There were many emergency services on the road. Environment was good, calm, peaceful, and cool. We didnít face any problem on road such as puncture because road was good. We had our lunch at my friendís farm house. TV was available in our car. There were parks, gardens on the way. It was great trip that we ever enjoyed.
It is a good experience as the roads are good with less traffic on roads. Pune- Nashik Highway is better to select. It hardly takes four hours from Pune. Own car is preferable. In short, overall travel experience is excellent. Petrol pumps and good Dhabas are available after every 20-30 km.
