I have started my journey from Bangalore at 7 Pm, went through Nice Road and exit at Hosur. I have travelled through AH 43/NH 7 Road, I have travelled on my own car, the journey was a very comfortable one, after reaching Salem took a halt for 4 hrs and then started our journey towards Palani after darshan reached Madurai at 4 Pm.

There were many sightseeing on the way, I suggest you to go for Hoggenkal Falls the road condition is good, there were only some of the dhabas on the way from Madurai to Rameswaram so better have lunch/dinner at Madurai itself, after finishing dinner reached Rameswaram early morning. Please carry enough water and also you might get confused with the routes so use Google Maps.

I had not booked any package because of cost. SRS is the only travel which offers direct travel to Rameshwaram. Changing buses or trains was tedious and costly too. It was very comfortable travel and timing was such that a weekend gateaway can be planned. Fare is also in limits.

Also they stopped at Pamban Bridge to have us let it see. I was very happy and I will recommend this to everyone who is planning to go to Rameshwaram from Bangalore.

The NH till Madurai is 4 lane road, but the NH-43 from Madurai till Rameshwaram is a single road. But the road is wide enough to handle the load. And the drive is too good with semi forest surrounding. On the way to Rameshwaram/Dhansuhkodi, you will cross Pamban bridge, and the scene is very much attractive, with railway bride on one side and oceanic beauty on the other side.

We took a flight from Bangalore to Madurai which was a short 1 hour long flight. Once we reached Madurai we took a taxi that we had booked in advance. The taxi took us to Rameswaram through a super scenic route. On the way we stopped for a quick chai and bhajji break in a small restaurant by the road. We also crossed the beautiful Pamban bridge. The Pamban bridge is very interesting as it also has a railway line running parallel to it. This line is bang in the middle of the ocean and makes for one of the most scenic train rides in India. It is also an architectural marvel as it can up in the middle to allow big ferries to cross. Once we reached Rameswaram we were quite tired from the long journey and it was so lovely to just sit back and relax at Hyatt Place, Rameswaram.

Roads are one-way all the way to Madurai. After that its two way but still very good roads and average speed comes around 60-80 kmph. We stopped for breakfast at Salem city and then stopped for lunch somewhere between Madurai and Rameshwaram. We took a stop also at the bridge connecting Rameswaram Island to the mainland. It is called Pamban road bridge. Also there is a Pamban rail bridge which is seen from the road bridge. Total time taken to reach Rameshwaram is around 11-12 hrs including stops.
