1) Fly to Port Blair from Kolkata or Chennai. 2) Reach Havelock either by Helicopter(should be booked well in advance) or Steamer. 3)The return Launch from Havelock comes in the evening (18:00 hrs - 18:30 hrs) so if you are coming by Sea you should make arrangement in Hotel at Port Blair well in advance (Check in time of Hotels at Port Blair 8:30-9:00 hrs). 4)If you afraid of water do not come to Havelock, you will get bored. 5) Although there had been no accidents but it is advisable not to travel to Havelock during Monsoon for people who are not brave enough in relation to water. Travel Tips: 1) Carry Cash, because Credit Cards are rarely accepted. 2) Remember there is no ATM at Havelock Islands 3) Always carry a stick at night to protect yourself from stray dogs. 4) Do not venture out in the Forest at night - Snakes 5) Listen to the locals and pay heed to their advice. 6) Have plenty of Liquor of your Choice. Liquior is very cheap 7) You can hire a cycle, travel by auto or bus or even hire a car as per your pocket and convienence. 8) If you are hiring Motor Bike/ Moped please check the condition of the Bike. If you donot check it, it may develop trouble and you may be required to pay substantial amount to repair it. It is better to Walk or hire a cycle then to hire a bike with both physical and machine trouble. 9)

Closest Airport - Port Blair, India. Avoid the Rainy season while planning your visit. Boats come to Havelock from Port Blair each morning and return every afternoon. Spending a few days on the island allows you to soak in the atmosphere. Carry a good supply of mosquito repellent and Sun block (not sun screen) if you do not want a severe tan or sun burns. Cotton clothes, floaters, swimming and diving gear are essentials. Let the hotel people arrange your taxi and boat - share the same with others to split the cost or don't if you want the vehicles at your beck and call. The boat men run many trips after dropping you to a destination so be firm in your arrangements and agreement. People are simple and helpful and politeness goes a long way.
