Buses ply from Chennai CMBT to Thiruvannamalai at 15 minutes interval. Or you can reach Thiruvannamalai from Vellore. Those who cannot walk even 100 metres should avoid full moon days as on that day Bus Stand inside the town is closed and temporary Bus stand is established in the outskirts of the town.

1) If you are traveling by bike be careful the roads till you reach Thiruvannamalai is really bad at some parts 2) take some good sun protection creams as its too hot and humid 3) drink plenty of water 4) Reserve at a good hotel before you reach as you might not know if you will get a room at the end as there are only few good hotels there 5) If you are planing of GIRIVALAM do not start in the noon or your legs will be full of blisters and you might not be able to walk for weeks
