Chitradurga is less than 4 hrs by car on a good 4-lane NH4 throughout. Also well-connected by buses. For Vanivilas sagar take deviation of about 8-10 kms form Hiriyur, which is about 20 kms before chitradurga from Bangalore. The rocky terrain could be extremely hot in summer.
