Driving standards are very different from those in Europe and will be frightening at first but there is some method in all the chaos and you soon get used to it. Taxis are inexpensive and everywhere. I would strongly advise against hiring cars, scooters or bikes - it's just too dangerous. Goans are open, friendly people and it's impossible to leave without having made some special friends and lasting memories.

If you happen to take a flight to Goa, Candolim is appx. 30 Km drive from Dabolim airport.It has a good road connectivity from Mumbai and Pune if you love to drive. Margoa railway junction is well connected to most rail routs. If you happen to travel in sunny months like I did, do carry enough summer clothing as you may not get a chance to use local laundry service or to dry your cloths. Its better to carry enough shorts, light three fourth trousers and lots of T- shirts in summer.While visiting the beach do ask for towels from the hotel.You can use Candolim as a central hub to visit nearby Calangut, Baga beaches and other north Goa destinations.
