Reach to Chikmagalur by early morning 4-5AM; get freshened up and hit the road again by 6-7AM although it wont matter much as we had complete cloud cover until 11AM. Carry extra pair of footwear as your shoes are proned to get wet in the falls. Have shoes to protect your legs from leeches. Carry salt for the same reason during trek. Trekking in rainy season might be tricky so try to avoid it during the month of September. Since we had hired a cab, cannot advise much on public transport to the place.

Take a bus from Bangalore to Hornadu (Rajahamsa,) be ready when it reaches Kottigehara around 5.00am ,(the bus will depart at 10.30pm from majestic) and it will go via Hassan ,Belur, Mudigere. At Kottigehara ,there will be leisure to go for rest and you can have a cup of coffee or tea, and after 5 - 10 minutes , the bus will move towards Horanadu , via Balur hand post, gateway and it will reach Gabgal and finally it will move towards Magundi , get down immediately at Avanthi estate. Dont go to Magundi town , as soon as Gabgal finished. Shortly the bus will move to Avanthi estate main gate , which is on left hand side . ( dont cross the Bhadra river bridge) before that you will get Avanthi estate and after 1 -30 seconds you will Bhadra river bridge and immediately Magundi village and the bus will take immediate left and move towards Kalasa and reach Horanadu. ( if you are going by own vehicle , there is a land mark as soon as when you reach Mudigere, ,i.e., agruiculture institute , there immediately take a turn and move in the same way from college you will cross some estates and reach a small town called Bankal and from there if you move straight as the road moves you will get Kottigerhara form there immediately you take right and move straight , and you will get banking road , i,e, Balur hand post. Dont go in that road, move straight and you will cross small small towns and after some extent you will cross the roads ,on left and right there will be coffee plantations which is owned by Tata coffee , ie called Gabgal post and also it is called as Gabgal estate , and after 5 - 10 minutes a hair pain curve will be there immediately on the full left you will see the Avanthy estate , ie river woods holiday resort go inside and check in Prashanthi Bungalow .

Taxi is the best so that you can go where ever you want. The Bhadra wild life sanctuary is open for the public only from 6AM to 9AM and 6PM to 8PM.The roads are not that good. Make sure that the tyres are in good condition.There are lots of hotels are resorts uphill, on the way to Mullayangiri. Hotel Raj Mahal is ok for a one night stay. However, its always good to stay in a resort uphill.
