Plan your trip in advance if you want to have quiet darshan without many people around go on a Mon or Tuesday which we did, The crowd start to thicken from Wednesday and Thursday is good day to avoid unless you want to be on Thrusday. Plan you travel options because getting tickets is a very difficult. If you plan to travel by train start booking your tickets 2 months before your planned travel date, If flying atleast 2 weeks advance booking is appropriate. for stay review you option by looking at travel adviser websites like trip adviser, Holiday ID and many others. There decent hotels available between range of 800 to 1500 for double accommodation. We stayed at Hotel Bhagyalakshmi for 1 night at of 2500 for Triple occupancy.

Small Shirdi town - lack of civic management

The hotels in this town are very inconsistent and largely unprofessional. Taxi rides from Bombay are good with a lot of choice. Better call your hotel from Delhi or Bombay to arrange a taxi ride for you. This way you get it cheaper. The new railway station called Shirdi Sainath is a god sent but you get trains only from the East, South East and Bombay.

Shirdi is 15 kms from Kopargaon and around 60 kms from Manmad Junction. It can be reached by road as well as railways. The train to reach the closest rail head that is Kopargaon is Karnataka express 2627/ 2628. The auto charges Rs 150 approx for the entire auto, else it charges Rs. 20 per passenger from Kopargaon to Shirdi. However, from Manmad there are buses as well as private taxis. Our taxi (black and red maruti omni) charged Rs 500 from Manmad to Shirdi one way. I have visited twice in the last five months and did not face any problems related to commuting to Shirdi, my last visit being in July 2008.
