Go Bharatpur in Winters, recommended. You will see some great migratory birds. Some of them are: Painted Stork, the Snake bird, pond heron, black winged stilt, the comb duck etc. Timing: Reach to the park by 6.30-7 AM to get some great clicks, without much of crowd disturbance. You can also hire a guide. If you reach early, you can get bicycles, else there are rickshaws that can take you inside. Take a camera that has a good zoom to take good photos. Using a tripod is recommended if you are using high zoom. From delhi it is some 180 kms approx via Mathura. You can go by train or can go by car.

There are a few popular lodging options but ‘The Bagh’ is the best. For something lighter on the pocket one could stay in a haveli-turned-lodge. Accommodation within the sanctuary is attractive because of its location, but the amenities are pathetic. A guide is a must when you visit the sanctuary. You could ask the hotel to arrange one for you and the proposition is a rather affordable one. During summer time, it’s crucial to have a cooling headgear and an effective sunscreen; advisable to visit in winters. Carry first aid. Don’t forget your binoculars and camera, of course!

This place is just 150 kms from Delhi and is very easily approachable by road. Prepare yourself for bumpy roads, in a stretch of about 20 kms when you take a turn from the highway, to Bharatpur main city, but overall its a easily approachable place.
