The last part of our Delhi journey was a trip to Agra where we stayed in the Hotel Howard Plaza - The Fern. As soon as we entered the hotel, I realized that I would love my stay here and was really happy with my decision of paying a few extra hundred bucks to get a really great experience (we got a deal of Rs. 4500 for 2 nights for my family of 4, 2 adults and 2 small children, which would have been even better if goibibo had not delayed crediting my goCash). The room was spacious, the bed king sized, clean bed sheets and towels, and the room had a great seating arrangement with a sofa and a writing desk and an additional sitting area near the window of the hotel. There was a mini bar with 2 bottles of mineral water and a coffee/tea maker with complimentary tea bags, sugar sachets, etc to make tea/coffee. The decor and lighting was great, it had a separate area for storing luggage and a wardrobe. The air conditioner was great (it was a bit hot in Agra especially during the day and there was no fan provided in the room). The bathroom was neat and clean and there were toiletries available from biotique and lastly, there was a tub - my children got really delighted at the prospect of being able to play in the tub. There was no hot water coming in the tap - what was coming was warm water, not hot. And that was probably the only disappointment which we faced. On calling housekeeping, they sent someone to check (service was very slow, had to call again and the guy took his time coming) and he was not able to do anything satisfactory. The children were still able to play though not as long as they wanted as I didn't want them to stay long in the cool water. The next morning we had a filling breakfast in the restaurant which had a fairly good variety in the breakfast buffet. There were 8 different items apart from fruits, donuts, croissants, muffins, toast and a counter where the chef would serve whatever kind of egg you wanted. Before leaving for sightseeing, I complained at the front desk to the polite lady about the hot water and when we returned tired and exhausted after our day of sightseeing, we got what we wanted. A hot tub to soak away the tiredness. I really can't comment on the location because we booked a government approved non-AC cab service at the railway station itself, which charged us almost 2850 for 2 days of sightseeing plus almost 400 more which went by way of toll, parking charges at the various places, etc. The cab, which was not quite well maintained but it was spacious, dropped us off at the hotel and picked us up at the hotel in the mornings and then finally dropped us at the train station at the end of our trip. Apart from the breakfast buffet, we did not really get time to eat at the hotel, so can't comment on the food during other times. We also did not get a chance to use the pool or the spa and massage service (though the price seemed a bit too steep to us). We definitely had a really great time staying at the hotel and had almost made plans to stay another day just to laze away at the hotel. We would definitely recommend the hotel and would like to stay at the same place in the future.
I visited the hotel in the month of September. It was an official trip. Overall experience in the hotel was very pleasant. Destination of the hotel was awesome and especially Tajmahal and Red Fort. Location was excellent and hotel was situated in the main road. Hotel appearance was very attractive. staff's members were very helpful and friendly. There was no delay in check in and checkout. I had done booking through online. Services provided by the staff members were very good. Room was clean and comfortable. Food and drinks were delicious and different varieties of foods were available at the hotel. Complimentary breakfast was available in the hotel. Activity like swimming pool and indoor outdoor games were available in the hotel. Pickup and drop facility was provided by the hotel. I would like to recommend the hotel to other travellers.
Our visit to Agra was obviously for sight seeing especially the Taj and we were recommended Howard Plaza by our friend and we were never disappointed with our stay. The hotel is ideally located for our visit to Taj Mahal. The amenities in this hotel were well within the budget we paid and the services are adequate without any issues. The staff were all well informed and very helpful. The mattresses and the toilets were clean for our just 2 days stay. The food was okay as we had only breakfast here. Just try to bargain for the price or search online to get good price and try to avoid peak season for overcrowding at the hotel as well as at Taj. Just go with your own materials like shampoo, soaps, etc., as they were not providing the same to us and we had to resort to the help of staff to get it brought for us.
Visited this hotel for the first time, don't know how it functioned before being taken over by the Fern Group but its rather exceptional now, had a bit of a hassle with the water faucet in the restroom else overall good. The location is very good and the food was also very good.
In the month of August month I stayed in this hotel. It was a trip for official purpose. The overall experience in this hotel was good. The hotel location was within the city limit. The destination is really a good place. The appearance of the hotel was good looking. There was no delay in check-in services in this hotel. The room allotted was good and clean with amenities. The activities were not organized in the hotel. The food served in the hotel was good.
