Ranked 19 of 382 hotels in Mussoorie
I stayed in Ilbert Manor, Mussoorie with my family and friends for 3 nights/4 days during May 2017. I'll try to write a fair and honest review based on my experience in this hotel. A quick summary: * Location: 4. 5/7. * View/surroundings: 4. 5/7. * Rooms: 2. 5/7. * Internet connectivity: 1. 5/7. * Food: 4. 5/7. * Service: 2/7. * Overall: 3/7 (avoid if you can). Detailed review: The hotel is located at about 1+ kilometer away from Gandhi Chowk (Mall Road) in Mussoorie, which is a plus point. Moreover, the hotel does provide a shuttle service for pick and drop (which is a small car that can seat 3 adults and a child in addition to a driver). So the size of the "shuttle" makes it unviable to utilize it if you are in a larger group. The view/surroundings are also decent but not great. A major eyesore is the Mussoorie Municipal Corporation's massive garbage dump which is clearly visible (and sometimes smellable) from the balconies. Rooms are where this hotel loses its credibility completely. The level of cleanliness fails to cut the mark, mainly due to the wooden ceiling that continuously sheds small chips of wood and ash, that fall all over the floor and bed while you are awake or asleep. I checked this with other guests across multiple rooms and confirmed they too had this issue. Table fans that are wall mounted are your only help if you feel hot during your stay (which does happen when you land there in peak summers). Faucets in bathrooms are of decent quality but during my first night there a leaky faucet caused the entire toilet to be covered with water. Don't depend on the internet connectivity here, since it is quite shaky and slow. Web pages sometimes take minutes to load, depending on the number of guests staying. Food is decent. The restaurant offers buffet breakfast and dinner and in-room service. The food tasted well, didn't cause any health issues and had decent variety of north & south Indian and a couple of oriental dishes as well. Service is again where the restaurant falters big time. The staff members are locals who are not trained for the hospitality industry. For instance, when the Internet connectivity was broken, I was forced to call the reception 4 times for them to even acknowledge the issue. And they never called me back even once, not even after they resolved the issue. Overall, I am going for a rating of 2 out of 5 for this place. I am hoping that my review is sufficiently detailed for the hotel management to learn from and to improve.
Perched at the edge of one of the hills of Mussoorie, the hotel has a magnificent unobstructed view of the Himalayas (what a way to wake up!) on one side and of Mussoorie town (surprisingly symmetrical night lights) on another. The staff is courteous, well-trained and unobtrusive. A heritage hotel, the rooms have the charm of the British era combined with modern plumbing, and the bathrooms are large and luxurious. Food is great, hygienic and tasty.
Everything is so perfect in this heritage hotel. If you can afford a little bit of luxury then this is the right place for you in Mussoorie. My stay at this hotel for 3 nights is an absolute delight. Infact my Mussoorie tour wouldn\'t have been better without it. Right from the check in you will feel that you have entered some palace with all the heritage things around. The managers Mr Lawrant and Mr Vikash are just so perfect with a all time smiley face and unmatched service. The room is nice, big, no frills, variety of toiletries and with all the amenities required. The chef visits the room personally in order to take your orders for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have no menu card. You can order your likings (except fish and mutton preparation) and the chef will present that for you. Its yummy. The hotel is not at the mall but they do have a shuttle service for pick up and drop to the Mall. The driver Anand is always at your service. Being a local boy he can also be your best guide. But beware.... if in any case the shuttle service is not available...then it\'s a tough time to walk the steep up hill for elderly people. I would recommend everyone of all age to stay at this heritage property.
I am really in short of words for this excellent place I have been. It was one of the best experience of my travelling for a holiday and the manager and people were like family and friends in no time. The location was just superb. The food was awesome. And the location was excellent again. Hope people going to Mussoorie should go there for all purpose of holiday. Pyare Ji was a very good host. I really had a fantastic time of my life. Now this is all for a romantic holiday you need. I would really recommend people to visit the place once in their life span.
Located next to the mall road, the hotel offers a convenient pick and drop at the Mall in a cute Wagon R. The decor is very colonial and the rooms and washrooms are well-maintained. The view from the open air seating space is breathtaking. Old time staff, very cultured and committed to provide a personalized experience to the guests. Spotted a walnut tree. I had never seen one before :) Thank you, all the people who worked hard on the property and made our holiday so special!
