Mandarmani
No luxury chain hotel in West Bengal outside Kolkata. Why?
Why does not West Bengal have a single luxury chain hotel outside Kolkata? It does not seem to have a dearth of tourist spots in Darjeeling, Siliguri, Mandarmani, Digha, Shankarpur, Murshidabad and Shantiniketan?

Mandarmani
Mandarmani hotels CHOICE is difficult
I have heard reviews and also opinions of friends about hotels in Mandarmani. I have come to the following conclusions.

1) ROSE VALLEY: Largest hotel with a lot of land within the compound but extremely crowded and loud junta coming over, indulging in a lot of raucous activity and jibber jabber. Food is passable but not extra-ordinary. Room service is good but not excellent. Check in is okay. The hotel building is covered and protected from the weather but the architecture is an eyesore.

2) NEEL NIRJONEY: Independent cottages, which are of acceptable comfort. Room service is all right not extraordinary. Food is good. Difficult to move around for elderly people as the paths are grassy or tiled, making it difficult for aged footfalls.

3) DIGANTE: Great food but has to be ordered an hour before you eat. Building looks like a government flat and the pathways are not protected from the weather. Room service is great.

4) SANA BEACH RESORT: Tiresome staff with sluggish attitude. Limited options for food. Cooking is all right, not extra-ordinary. Rooms not comfortable. Building pathways protected from the weather.

Mandarmani
Good food, good room service and weather protected building?
Hi, My 75 plus parents and my 65 plus uncle are going to Mandarmani at May end. They will be driving down from Kolkata in a Sumo. I am looking for a hotel, which does not have rough pathways which would be a problem for them to walk in. I want a good and well maintained building where the rooms are connected within the building with paved floors and a protective ceiling. I hope I am making myself clear. For instance, if they stay in a cottage style hotel they will be exposed to the weather when they walk out of their hotel. I want them to enter the portico of the hotel and be confined to a air conditioned atmosphere within the building which is very well maintained.

At the same time, I want good service and also excellent food options within the hotel. Any suggestions?

I want good parking space within the hotel grounds too.

Buxa TR
Hi all,

Want to go to Buxa Tiger Reserve/Jayanti during January next year. Also want to stay inside core area. Want help :

1. Would January be a good enough time to experience the jungles ? (Never mind sighting. Just want to live the jungle experience)
2. Which would be a better option for stay : Buxa Inn OR Buxa Valley Resort ? Any other inside the forest ?
3. At Jayanti, our options are Banante OR CESC Holiday Home. Which is a better option ?
4. We understand that BTR is within Jayanti area but just want to laze around inside the forest and enjoy the evenings at Jayanti too, next to the river bed.
5. Our travel plan :
Day 1 - reach Buxa by about 12 ish
Day 1 - BTR jeep safari in the afternoon (post lunch)
Day 2 - Travel to Sikiajhora for a launch ride through the jungles
Day 2 - afternoon visit Buxa Village/Fort
Day 3 - travel to Raimatang and proceed to Jayanti
Day 3 - Lunch at Jayanti
Day 3 - post lunch do the Gorom Beat safari near Jayanti
Day 4 - relax at Jayanti and take the evening train back to Kolkata
Any Suggestions ?

Thanks,
Aumit

Visit to Puri
I am visiting Puri during last part of December and would be staying there for 3 days and 2 nights. Planning to visit Chilka and Bhubaneswar. Is it better to travel Chilka and sightseeing by OTDC Tourism or hired car. Kindly suggest how best I can utilise the days and cover most of the areas. Thanks in advance for your guidance.:)
