Iron Pillar Overview

Iron Pillar is situated at the centre of the Quwwat-ul-Islam Masjid, which is inside the premises of Qutub Minar. This Iron Pillar dates back to around 4th century, which was erected for honouring Lord Vishnu and in remembrance of Chandragupta II. It was erected as a flagpole and it is still a mystery that how this pillar moved to the present location in Qutub Minar.

This pillar is about 7.3 m tall and is made of 98% wrought iron, which has not rusted or decomposed for more than 1,600 years. It is believed that people who can encircle the pillar with their arms, standing towards their back can have their wish fulfilled.

Ashoka piller ...

it's located in the qutab complex. marvelous architecture and still it is's hu high resistance to corrosion and has been called a testimoney to the high level of skill achieved by ancient indian iron smiths in the extraction and processing of iron.piller weight over 6000 kg.

Scientific marvel

Never caught rust

The iron pillar is also situated there the most important thing about that the pillar never caught rust. There are many sculptures old building of the times of mudgal there you find a lot of greenery out there and there are many couples resting out at the back side of the minar .

Masterpiece in technology

Think about a nail which when we kept for sometime in moist kept rusting but thia landmark THE IRON PILLER a great combination of art and technology. When we look at this with respect of todays technology, it is nothing, but just think about the mentality of that period people who built this landmark. Huff.. i am speechless.

A must visit

It's a must see if you are visiting Qutab Minar in New Delhi. Early days people used hold the pillar to make a wish, but now that's not possible but it remind us the use of Iron in India much before many other civilisations.
