"Good resort, food can improve"

  • Posted Nov 30, 2011
It is good, but food is not good in the resort, the complimentary breakfast that they were offering is pathetic and even for lunch and dinner also we have to drive far to get good food.

Best Experience: Resort is good, but they cleaned only once in three days

"A much needed vacation brought..."

  • Posted Sep 29, 2005
A much needed vacation brought me to the verdant lushness of Himachal Pradesh via Kesari Tours. Though the tour operators tried a whirlwind attempt of whooshing us through various hotels in Simla, Kulu, Manali and finally Kasauli, it was the K.K.Trams Resort, a hotel-with-a- ropeway-free sort of structure that took my heart away. After the sight-seeing squeezed days this shady respite was The hills are magic in monsoon. The rooms are well furnished and command magnificent view of the valley below. From your rooms the hills hide themselves under a veil of fog and the pine trees appear and disappear – a sigh escapes you unless you are reading The hotel ropeway moved us a total distance of 1200 metres and lifted us to a total height of 300 metres from Jabli to Kasauli in twenty minutes. The cable-car ride was a novelty device to get to-and-fro the hotel and I never got tired of it while slipping away to explore the colorful shrubs full of flowers.

Best Experience: Looking for a bit of solitude, I decided to try the trekking route up to Kasauli advertised in their brochure. I would urge all the young at heart to give it a try. It feels beautiful walking through the thick pine forest and is the best way of getting red cheeks, loud breathing, slow steps, and a glow of victory on your face while coming down! And yes, this is the only way to get to Kasauli without their regular down-the-tram and up-the-hills 22 kilometer drive. Also up for grabs are Table Tennis & Pool Tables, and lots of rides for the kids (I was alone, but could watch the kiddies loving a toy train which is really good). Also, the coffee tables are set near a stream, and its really great to lounge around here – which was only possible occasionally due to intermittent showers. However, the food is great, and I wolfed it up (a bit without manners, I must say, but excusable considering my strenuous morning excursions). I cherished the coolness and calmness of the whole place. This seems to be a place where old acquaintances can meet and greet each other, and a tourist place to return year after year with your family. The hotel staff arranged Bon-Fire and music on demand, and though there were lots of tiny winged creatures buzzing about in the night, we were able to have a lot of fun in the well-lit surroundings. But do ensure that they always stock insect repellents in your room.

Worst Experience: The staff seems to be made up of cardboard personalities and you never get passionate answers, unless you count mumbling as a passion. Refrain from asking the waiters questions about that trek I recommended to you above – they quote distances so lightly that the other side of the Himalayas seems a few footsteps away. However - I was glad to notice - they do anything that is requested promptly and inconspicuously. Also, their handling of large groups like ours seems very slow – for example my luggage took a really long time to get delivered to my room. Otherwise the overall experience was really good.

"If i can summarise in..."

  • Posted Aug 18, 2005
If i can summarise in a graph, it went upwards touching the sky in terms of room rate, but it went deep down in the earth in terms of services. Pathetic services, despite paying the best of prices for the room. Resort well built, but has been badly maintained. Only ray of goodness in the resort, was the taste of the food. Really nice food, which compensated to some extent, the poor service and atmosphere in the resort.

"We had decided to go..."

  • Posted Jul 15, 2005
We had decided to go to kasauli on a very short notice. It was friday evening and we planned to go next early morning from delhi. I picked up the india resorts survey guide that i got as a gift from this website. It turned out to be pretty useful at that time. I just dialled the phone numbers of the various resorts to check out the availablity of rooms. It being a weekend that too in summer vacations, i got negative response from all except KK Trams and resorts which promised me a booking only from Sunday onwards. They asked me my preference for a room - either base, or in hills or in a hut. I tried asking what is the difference but did not get complete clarification from the person on phone. Anyways i booked the hut which was the costliest. We started for kasauli saturday morning. At about 22 kms before kasauli (at a place called jabli), we saw KK Trams and Resorts on the main road on left side. We thought is it the one, but thought it cannot be as we are still 22 kms away from kasauli. Then we thought it must be the base resort. We decided to move ahead as we had booked a hut on the hills. As it is we did not have booking for the saturday. When we reached kasauli, we tried many hotels and resorts but all were booked. We called up KK Trams and resorts and asked for availability telling them that we already have a booking from next day. To our surprise, they said that they can adjust us today itself. But when we asked the location, we were shocked to know that the resort was the one which we had seen way back. When we asked that we had booked a hut in the hills, they clarified that the only way to their hill resort is through the cable car ropeway from their base resort. There was no other access to the hill resort. So we had to travel all the way back 22 kms. But the journey to our room was pleasant ride on the ropeway of approx duration 15-20 minutes covering a height of 4000 ft. The hill resort was located on a hill slightly lower in height than the kasauli hill and just facing it. The view of the surrounding hills and valley was great. The rooms were adequate sized and well kept.

Best Experience: Plus points were >The food was good. They had everything to offer whatever was written in the menu. >The ambience was very good. It was a place for a good leisure holiday, away from the crowded kasauli. > There were lot of activities to do in terms of billiards/pool, table tennis which were free of cost. We had taken our 9 month old daughter with us. There were children joy rides, swings, joy train ride etc within the resort. > There were beautiful lawns in the open to sit and just chill, read novel or have tea/coffee having a breathtaking look of the valley. > The staff was helpful. We had to frequently get the milk bottles boiled for our daughter, which they always promptly did. > They even upgraded our stay for last night to a cottage without extra cost. The cottage experience was completely overwhelming. > The ropeway ride was a pleasant experience. In our 3 days duration, we took the ride 6 times.

Worst Experience: The negative points were > The main resort location was 22 kms before kasauli. This was not clarified at the time of phone booking. > The only approach to the hill resort is through the ropeway of 20 min duration. So you get tied up in the room once you are there. If u have to buy a small thing from the market or even get to your car, you need to spare at least 50 minutes. > You may like to visit Kasauli, which is far off. > Being located in a place surrounded by trees and plantation, there were a lot of insects even within the room. We had to take special care of our daughter. In fact i even had 2 insect bites causing mild local allergic reactions.

"When i looked at the..."

  • Posted Jun 7, 2005
When i looked at the pictures of K K Trams and Heights resort on the net, it did not look very promising, however considering the availability, cost and distance from Delhi, i though of taking a Netculated risk. (Risk based on information from internet). To be honest, if i have to summarize my review in one line it would be, since my expectations were not much, i wasn\'t disappointed much. To begin with, the base resort K K Trams looked like an Old Lodge straight from some 70\'s hindi movie. The Cable car (which takes us another 2000 ft from the base resort) to the resort at the Height, is owned by the resort and looked interesting and showed that the owners were willing to shell money to attract tourists. However the Cable car was the ONLY Hight point (literally) of the resort. If you are going to Kausali to gain height and get some good weather, K K Trams is NOT the right place. Though the evening are windy, the days get HOT and witb \"Huts\" having metal roofs, i leave you to imagine what can happen in June afternoons.

Best Experience: The number of people serving was suerly outnumbering the number of guests in the resort. The response of waiters and their service was something very good. However the Quality of the Food spoiled it all. [Dont even think of eating non-veg there].

Worst Experience: The Pool table, (which looked home switched) and the hand painted T T Table were the only things as far as leisure activities were considered. Other than that one could not even find a pathway to go up/down the barren hills.
