"It was a real unwind..."

It was a real unwind at forest flowers. Just the place to relax, no mobile phones, no one to disturb. The owners of the place are a great couple. The food that is served is really yummy. There is a lot that can be done, however we decided to just stay in the room and sleep all time.

Best Experience: The food was just great. The location cannot get better.

Worst Experience: The road that leads to the place is a little concern as there are many potholes and really needs some maitanace.

"The homestay cottages were very..."

  • Posted Aug 29, 2009
The homestay cottages were very well mainitained abd the rooms were very pretty. Not very happy with the host. They were not courteous and mentioned petty things like we asked for egg for breakfast and said would be charged extra for it thought breakfast was complimentary. We had asked them on the phone what would be the sightseeing cost and they had said approx 2000 for 2 days. We asked them to arrange it for us. When the driver came to pick us up he told us that it was the owner\'s car only. But, when they gave us the bill we were shocked they charged us 3500 for taxi and when we asked them they said the driver said this amount. We felt cheated and realised there is no point fighting. Another thing which we were not very happy about was that everything was according to the hosts rules. Breakfast only after 8:30 in the morning. No way of contacting the hosts as there was no mobile signal. The place was pretty and we had a nice time.

"If you are looking for..."

  • Posted Oct 8, 2008
If you are looking for a home stay in Coorg, you can do much better than this. The location is quite beautiful as it in the midst of a 100 acre coffee estate. And that is about it. When a guest arrives, the place is deserted. You have to go in search of the office which is far away. The room itself is not too shabby but there are very few facilities. i.e., The power is seldom there, which means there is no hot water, you will not have any connection with the outside world as no network works there and there is no phone at the place. The food had no variety and lacked taste. The only activity you can do here is walk through the coffee estate. There are also a lot of little creatures (large spiders, etc.) which can cause a fright. The main issue is that the hosts do not fully understand the concept of a home stay. In one of the previous reviews, it was mentioned that they never met the hosts. I must say that they were quite lucky. We had the unfortunate opportunity of meeting them. They were rude to say the least. They should learn how to behave with guests by visiting one of the other home stays. Forest flower is a good place to stay at if you do not have a room at Coorg and you happen to be passing by their sign board. Otherwise, I suggest you go some where else.

Best Experience: The best thing about the place is the location (But this is there in most home stays in Coorg).

Worst Experience: Everything else.

"After hours of surfing through..."

After hours of surfing through various websites to decide a place for our stay during our trip to Coorg, we finally stumbled upon the homestay named “Forest Flower”. This resort was also recommended by a colleague of mine who is from Coorg. The location of the homestay is picturesque. It is nestled in the midst of acres of coffee estate and offered us a panoramic view and remained withdrawn from the hustle and bustle of life. We had to drive in 4 kms (from the main road) into the coffee estate to reach the homestay. Once inside we had no access to the outside world as there was absolutely no network coverage and the homestay did not have any landlines. There are 4 cottages. We stayed in the cottage named “Tulip” which was 2000/- Rs per night. It was just one room with attached bath, a double bed (for a couple), 2 chairs, 1 table, 1 mirror and 1 TV. We had a lot of insects giving us company throughout our stay in our room. One night there was a huge spider that came in through our ventilation and had us run for Mani(the room boy) to help us get rid of it. Mani was very helpful throughout our stay doing his best to make our stay comfortable. Not once will you see the owners of Forest Flower. All transactions and communications are through Mani who pretty much should be credited with running the place efficiently. So even if you have complaints you have no one to tell it to since the owners are least bothered about what happens with the guests. The rooms didn’t have power most of the time and the UPS was of no use. Therefore there was no hot water as was promised. The food was a disappointment. Breakfast on day 1 was rice balls with Sambar and on day 2 it was dosa with Sambar. They should really have some more varieties. Lunch was typical coorg food which tasted the same all the days. But the coffee that was provided morning and evening was by far the best coffee that I have ever had in my entire life. It smelled amazing and tasted even better. Fresh from the estate. Even though we felt that the money we paid for the stay was not worth it, the place COORG compensated for all that. It is a must-visit destination. But I probably wouldn’t recommend Forest Flower for your stay in Coorg. Best experience: Coffee Worst experience: Everything about the room
